Delete your account

Permanent. Irreversible. Done in two taps.

You can delete your GradApp account at any time. The action removes every piece of data we hold about you from primary storage in a single transaction — no review, no grace period, no “are you sure” email follow-up. We keep no shadow copy.

What gets deleted

  • Your account identity (email, name, sign-in method)
  • Your profile (target program, disciplines, countries)
  • Your CV — both the raw upload and our parsed analysis
  • Every match session and the explanations we generated
  • Your shortlist and saved professors
  • Every outreach draft
  • Applications, requirements, calendar items, reminders
  • Push-notification device registrations
  • Subscription records (cancel paid plans first — see below)

What we keep

  • Encrypted backups for up to 30 days before they age out. We do not restore from these except in catastrophic data-loss scenarios, and any restored data hits the same deletion pipeline within 7 days of restore.
  • Payment records (Stripe receipts) to the extent required by tax / accounting law in our jurisdiction — typically 7 years. These contain no profile data, only the transaction itself.
  • Operational logs (request timestamps, error traces) for up to 30 days. These do not contain CV or profile content.

How to delete

In the GradApp mobile app

  1. Open the Profile tab (bottom-right).
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  3. Type DELETE in the confirmation field and tap Delete forever.

On the web at gradappai.com

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Go to Settings and choose Delete account.
  3. Confirm the destructive action.

Before you delete a paid plan

If you have an active GradApp Pro or Premium subscription, cancel it from Settings → Billing before deleting the account. Deleting an account does not automatically issue a refund for the current billing period — Stripe handles the subscription lifecycle, and we lose the link between you and the customer record the moment your account is gone.

Can't sign in?

If you can't reach the in-app or web delete flow (lost device, locked out of email, etc.), email us at privacy@gradappai.com from any address you can prove control of. Provide the email address tied to your GradApp account. We'll verify and process the deletion within 30 days, in line with GDPR Article 17.

What happens next

After you confirm, the app signs you out and returns to the sign-in screen. Any future attempt to sign in with the same credentials will create a brand-new account with no history. You can re-sign-up freely whenever you want — we keep no record of who you were before.
